What have you got to lose? Years melted into decades as the city of Cascaro was blessed with a time period of peace and prosperity. The human population remained stable with a small population of about 2,500 people. Slowly the stray population grew larger, though the struggle for food and shelter had yet to seize to exist. Still, there was nothing to complain about life in the city, at least, not until now.
Cascaro’s rival city, Davison, has been slowly accumulating nuclear weapons and experimenting with their power. In order to keep up with the times, the citizens of Cascaro began experimenting with nuclear weapons themselves. Soon both cities were enrolled in an everlasting battle to see which city could develop the most powerful weapons, deeming them the most powerful.
Within time Cascaro developed a bomb known as the N-bomb 2.0, a bomb so powerful it could wipe out an entire city within minutes, and kill its neighbors with its toxic gas. Davison could not match the bomb’s power. Threatened by Cascaro’s growing strength, Davison declared war against Cascaro, launching three of its most powerful bombs on the city. And with that, the war between Davison and Cascaro began.
The war is mainly air based, meaning that most of the rivaling city’s assaults are bombings and other attacks launched from planes. Of course there are also rare instances of soldier raids which are less common, but still existant. Bombings occur usually once or twice a day, leaving craters within the streets and buildings to be demolished to rubble. Though it is not only the explosions which are to be feared, but the toxic gasses which disperse after the collision. The fumes of gasses have polluted the water supply, leaving strange side effects to those who are infected. The only way to know for sure who is infected by this new plague is by looking in the irises of a canine’s eyes. If the color is a deep green, it is best to stay away at all costs. This new illness has become known as Canis Influenza, where no canine is safe from becoming infected.
Famine also followed the war, leading to a lack of food to feed both the humans and the strays on the streets. And with a lack of food the tempers of many flared, making fights more common which ended up spreading the disease faster, for once the disease is caught it can be shared through blood transfusions, but accidental and on purpose. It soon reaches the point where no one is safe from war, or the side-effects of it.
